Hawaii FASD Action Group
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is a worldwide public health concern. Everyone of us, in some manner, has been affected by this invisible disability. As a result, a diverse group of people from multiple disciplines formed the Hawaii FASD Action Group in 2016. The goal was to build awareness and create services for Hawaii’s diverse population and individuals, families, and communities impacted by FASD. In September 2017, the Hawaii FASD Action Group convened a conference, “FASD: Interventions for an Invisible Disability” and offered an all-day assessment training. In September 2019, the group convened its second conference, “FASD: Improving Outcomes Across Systems of Care.” These conferences and training opened our hearts and minds, increased awareness of interventions that work, and issued a call for community action to address FASD statewide.
