FAMILY PROGRAMS
“Talk. They Hear You.” Campaign
Coalition for a Drug-Free Hawaii is partnering with the national “Talk. They Hear You.” Campaign to increase awareness, education, and action among parents and teens to prevent underage drinking and substance use. Our local campaign features island families and youth along with hand-picked resources including the locally produced, Mālama I Na Ōpio video.
The "Talk. They Hear You." Campaign empowers parents and caregivers to talk with children early about alcohol and other drug use. Parents have a significant influence in their children’s decision to experiment with alcohol and other drugs. Although it may not seem like it, when parents talk about underage drinking and substance use, their children do hear them. Continuing these conversations with their teens and young adults reinforces the message and provides opportunities to offer support. Teens and young adults can also take action to be a positive influence and resource for their friends and peers.
